Darkness Before Dawn by Ace Collins

About the Book:

"On the same night she discovers she is pregnant, twenty-eight-year-old nurse Meg Richards’ husband is killed in an auto accident caused by a drunken teen. James Thomas, the teen, comes from one of the most influential families in the community. He’s a star athlete and glamour boy at the local high school. Angered by her senseless loss, Meg blames God for what has happened and considers a decision that could change her life even further—until the D.A. intervenes.

The results of the brutal trial enrage Meg, leading her down a frightening path of retribution. When the opportunity for revenge comes unexpectedly, will Meg follow through? Or will the remnants of her faith lead her in a different direction?"

My Review:

I found myself getting so frustrated with the book and feeling a deep sadness weighing me down. Thinking it was the day I was having, I slowly came to realize the sadness descended on me as I read through the book. I came to realize that what this main character struggled with is something we all struggle with although it is sometimes just not as apparent. How often do we focus on getting back at someone rather than focus on forgiveness? How that eats us up like indeed a "cancer." A lot of the story focuses on the "flesh" side of things and not the spiritual. The ending certainly had a redemptive quality and was cause for celebration.

Thank you to NetGalley for allowing me to preview the book--the opinions which I wrote are my own.

Rating: 3.5 out of 5 stars
