After seven years as a Chicago homicide detective, Lisa Grant has hit a wall. Ready for a kinder, gentler life, she takes a job as a small-town police chief. But the discovery of a human skeleton by a construction crew at the edge of town taxes the resources of her department. A call for assistance brings detective Mac McGregor, an ex-Navy SEAL, to her doorstep. As they work to solve the mystery behind the unmarked grave, danger begins to shadow them. Someone doesn't want this dead person telling any tales--and will stop at nothing to make certain a life-shattering secret stays buried.
My Review:
This was one of those stories that did a great job making the characters very realistic. I loved the internal dialogue each of these characters had going on--in fact, sometimes I couldn't help but smile at something he/she was thinking. The story was good but it lacked some of the mystery I like in stories I read. Part-way through the book I knew who the killer was. With that being said, however, it was a very-well crafted book with strong and (mostly) likable characters--I can't like a villain!
Thank you to Revell for allowing me to review this book--the opinions and thoughts are my own.
