Three years ago, a collision between a fast-moving freight train and a school bus full of kids led to devastation and grief on an unimaginable scale. But a fresh clue leads San Antonio police detective Amara Alvarez to the unlikely conclusion that one of the children may still be alive. If she's correct, everything law enforcement believes about the accident is a lie.
With time running out, Amara must convince others--and herself--that despite all evidence to the contrary, the boy lives. And she will do everything in her power to bring him home.
My Review:
With this being the first book I have read from Mr. Threadgill, I didn't know what to expect. There were lots of one liner quips that got a smile from me, there was a hint of romance, and there was an lizard; however, more than that there was mystery and suspense that kept the story moving. The first half or two-thirds of the book were pretty interesting. The next small section had me bogged down in some of the details that didn't, for me, keep the story moving enough. The end of the story had me wondering though until the end and definitely contained a surprise or two. Overall, it was a solid story, and I would recommend it.
I voluntarily received a complimentary copy from Revell. All opinions and thoughts are my own.
Rating: 4 out of 5 stars
