About the Book:
Former CIA sniper Kadance Tolle possesses a special set of skills and a
rare pedigree. She comes from a family of assassins, and by saving
Lyndon Vaile's life she risks being found by them. Despite the danger,
Kadance feels compelled to help Lyndon discover who is after him--and
his research that seems to prove that the Ebola virus was manmade and is
about to be weaponized.
With shadowy figures pursuing them and a
Mastermind watching their every move, Kadance and Lyndon must scramble
to stop an impending bioattack at the State of the Union address. But
their warnings fall on deaf ears, and it becomes increasingly clear that
there's no one they can trust--except perhaps each other.

My Review:
This debut story from Mrs. Koslin had me guessing what would come next. The dialogue between Kadance and Lyndon was dynamic, and I felt kept the story moving. There were pieces that felt implausible like the cat knocking the knife off the counter on demand and him seeming to obey other commands like a dog. Cats are very smart (as we have had many and currently have three), but generally these actions are not consistent with a kitty. The story moved quickly, and it had me turning the pages.
Some of the writing points to a debut writer, but that didn't hinder my reading of the story--I know this will get better. There was one instance of Kadance asking Lydon if he was psychic, and there was discussion of God possibly causing the Big Bang--both of these parts of the story I didn't like. That being said, I did enjoy the rest of the story and look forward to Mrs. Koslin's next book.
I voluntarily received a complimentary copy from Revell. All opinions and thoughts are my own.
